A fun and flavorful dessert dip featuring tender spiced apples and crispy homemade cinnamon sugar tortilla chips.

Ingredients

Scale

5 medium apples (peeled, cored, and chopped into 1/4-inch cubes)
1/3 cup brown sugar (packed)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1 cup water
2 tablespoons cornstarch
8 flour tortillas (6-inch)
1/3 cup granulated sugar (for chips)
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for chips)
Non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. For the Dip: In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped apples, brown sugar, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and lemon juice. In a small bowl, whisk together the water and cornstarch until smooth, then pour into the pan. Cook over medium heat, stirring often, until the mixture boils and thickens (about 5-7 minutes). Remove from heat.
  2. To Make the Chips: Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly spray both sides of the tortillas with cooking spray. Mix 1/3 cup granulated sugar and 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon in a bowl. Sprinkle the mixture over the tortillas. Cut each tortilla into 8 wedges and place on baking sheets in a single layer. Bake for 8-10 minutes until crisp. Let cool before serving with the dip.

Notes

  • Use Granny Smith apples for a tart kick.
  • Store chips in an airtight bag at room temperature.
